Please, do not select the "Show all" checkbox during the scan. Post the log to your next reply. Post HijackThis log. DO NOT make any other changes to your computer like installing programs, using other cleaning tools, etc. I just completed Step 1. After the scan, I did not click on 'Finish' fast enough, before it asked me about rebooting, so it did not give me the option of choosing preferences. So I scanned again a second time, misunderstood the last instruction about clicking on preferences, and scanned a third time, and got it right.

I have posted all three scans in the order in which they were done. I am preparing to conduct Step 2, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. Very well. Malwarebytes log Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1. I retarted the computer before performing Step 4. No onger receiving the 'No Disk' error msg. I attempted to communicate to you everything that took place as I was following the Steps.

Disable your current antivirus and firewall. If you use Spybot or Windows Defender, disable those too. I disabled the Windows firewall prior to doing so, however. I have no idea how to find other antivirus or antispyware on my machine or if I even have any.

It provides malware and rootkit protection, and has worked great here at work, where I've installed it on all workstations and servers.

And don't forget to disable System Restore while you are doing your cleanup, and turn it back on when you are sure your machine is clean. They've been around a long time and they are time tested can be trusted. I'm another for Adaware, I run that a couple of times a week to clear off the spyware the kids import.. MSN is a nightmare I find. Mind you, as said if you use the net you will get some of it back, lost count of the number of times I've had to scrub something called Zango. Thanks for all the replies.

I've run ad-aware today and it helped. Saw this on their site: "Some software that uses spy or adware include in their license agreement, a general prohibition against modifying the software, or the prohibition against usage of the software without those 'bots'. Please read your license agreements first! And remember: the best way to remove ads is to pay the shareware fee! You can always download a free spybot from microsoft. I check out my exe's on a website called Iamnotageek.

I started using Avast! I have had no need to run adaware, spybot etc. Once in a while I'll run spybot or adaware just to check, and they find nothing.

Might be worth a try. Also, programs such as System Mechanic are sometimes helpful in removing stuck software.

AVG is still free. I just recently last two weeks or so updated to the latest free version because the old free version will no longer be updated as of the middle of January. This is pretty impressive, getting your computer questions answered at a musician's forum.

I am sure if you asked a mandolin question over at a PC tech site, you wouldn't get near as many responses.
