Windows 7 home premium upgrade to professional price
It would be nice if an email method was in place outside of the official ms store but I can understand there are complications. Overall Review: My company occasionally needs to buy laptops rather than the usual towers and its just a bit harder to find competitively priced laptops with pro already installed compared to the tower market.
This makes things easier by letting us buy a normal laptop and upgrade it company standards at little extra cost and have it done relatively quickly.
Pros: Heard it was easy, expected less Doesn't care if you have bit or bit, doesn't change any personal files, and is seamless as it can be. Microsoft really got this right. Takes about 5 minutes each here. Started coffee, upgraded five computers, and was ready seconds after it finished brewing.
I think it's just a key-disc to add OS features you may have thought you didn't want at first, and that's perfect really. If you have Home Prem and have a small inkling that you may want Pro; go this route. Cons: Minor con, but you must be online to fetch the content and validate. No real content on the disc that I can tell.
Doesn't matter this decade though, does it? Just one upgrade wanted to re-validate the install after a week, did it, and has been silent all year. More than likely a mix-up on my part. What to do with all these Home versions? I'm not sure about support if upgrading from OEM, but also not sure who really uses MS support to validate Retail prices. Pros: Upgrades your Windows 7 without changing any programs or modifying any settings.
Cons: Must be connected to the internet to get the updates, so it takes a while. Overall Review: You are just buying a plastic case with a business card with a key on it. This defiantly should be done electronically, but some people prefer something tangible for the money.
A piece of cake! Best buy if you need the upgrade. Cons: A huge box for a 25 digit Product Key! Was it that important to require a shipping fee, however reasonable the cost might be? Pros: Worked like a charm! Right clicked on my computer, went to properties, clicked the link on the computer description screen that said "Get more features with a new edition of Windows 7". Entered the activation key that came with the Windows 7 Pro Anytime Upgrade, then let the computer do the rest.
Overall Review: Make sure you understand that you are only paying for the activation code, not a disk version. If you need the disk for some reason recommend you buy a retail version or a systems builder OEM version. If you just want the upgrade code to get an upgraded version of Windows then this is the cheapest way to go. Pros: Easiest upgrade ever! Took all of 10 minutes tops.
I now have XP mode and better networking capabilities so it did exactly what it was supposed to do. Very happy with the product and Windows 7 is fantastic! Pros: Upgraded fine to Win 7 Pro. Most things work fine. The ability to run XP Mode Applications in their own window looking like a Windows 7 application is impressive. Overall Review: The wording is confusing for some not understanding what they are buying.
The Remote Desktop Connection feature is included with all editions of Windows 7, but you can only connect to computers running the Professional, Ultimate, or Enterprise editions.
This means you can use a computer running Windows 7 Home Premium to connect remotely to a computer running Windows 7 Professional but not vice versa. The software can be purchased at a discounted price on retailers such as Amazon:. If you work in different locations that have different wireless networks and printers, you can use the location-aware printing feature in Windows 7 Professional.
This feature, which is not available in Windows 7 Home Premium, lets you create preferred printer-network pairs so that Windows automatically selects the correct default printer for you based on which network you are on. BitLocker encrypts the entire drive that Windows and your data reside on. Once BitLocker is turned on, any file you save on that drive is encrypted automatically. Neither edition has this feature. It is only available for Windows 7 Ultimate and Enterprise editions.
