Izuru Kira revealing that his task was to stop Rangiku Matsumoto and refusing to answer her question about who gave him this task because he does not need to answer to a dead woman. Aizen looking somber prior to grinning after impaling Hinamori. Hitsugaya and Rangiku chasing Izuru up the stairs with Shunpo.

Rangiku accusing Izuru of being mentally ill and attempting to reason with him while they clash. Gin Ichimaru asking Hinamori to follow him. An extended flashback to Hinamori's time with Aizen prior to his faked death.

Hinamori internally claiming that there was no reason for her to lose hope because she knew Aizen would never die and leave her alone. A shocked Hinamori wondering what just happened and finding blood on her hand after Aizen impales her. Additional scenes of Hinamori training to become Aizen's lieutenant. The censored version of Aizen impaling Hinamori during the first TV broadcast. In the manga, after drawing Hitsugaya's attention, Izuru leaps away from the doorway; here, he walks away instead.

Angered by this, Renji leaps high into the air and releases his Shikai, Zabimaru. Renji is slashed across the back by Aizen after the latter slashes Zabimaru to pieces.

With Aizen stating he must know Shikai will not buy him any time at all, Renji retracts Zabimaru and proclaims he does not know this before swinging Zabimaru at Aizen once more, only for Aizen to casually grab the end segment, stopping Zabimaru in its tracks and causing the remaining segments to bunch up in midair.

After slashing Renji across the back, which causes him to fall to his knees, Aizen recalls how he felt sure he could use Renji, Hinamori, and Izuru the first time they met, which is why he had the three of them assigned to the Fifth Division when they joined the Gotei 13 and made the two useful ones subordinates of himself and Gin before sending Renji to another division since he was the problem child.

Concluding that his instinct was correct, Aizen instructs Renji one last time to let go of Rukia and run. However, while Rukia attempts to plead with Aizen, Renji tells her to shut up once again and refuses to let go of her. When Renji apologizes for forcing him to come to their aid, Ichigo claims that Renji looked exhausted from just carrying Rukia around and mockingly inquires if running away was too much for him.

Irritated by this, Renji counters that Ichigo looks tired as well and suggests that he curl up in a blanket somewhere, and the two of them continue to bicker in annoyance. Renji explains his plan to Ichigo after refusing to run away due to such an action being pointless. Suddenly, Rukia pushes herself away from Renji's chest and gasps for air. With a startled Ichigo and Renji asking her if she is alright, Rukia angrily punches Renji in the face for smothering her against his chest and crushing the wind out of her.

Watching Rukia continue to berate Renji, Gin apologizes to Aizen for letting Ichigo get by because he did not want to intrude, prompting Aizen to assure him that it is alright since Ichigo is just another ant to step on and makes no difference. Alerted by this, Ichigo asks Renji if that is Aizen, which Renji confirms, and inquires if he can run. When Renji affirms that he can but will not do so, Ichigo begins to protest, but Renji explains that Zabimaru still has some surprises left despite being broken and points out that they both know there is no point in running.

Placing his left hand on the hilt of Zabimaru , Renji notes he can only use this move once and there will be an opening if it works before warning Ichigo he will only have an instant to make his attack because of how powerful Aizen is.

Aizen slashes through Ichigo's midsection after blocking his attack with one finger. The lower half of Ichigo's body swings back as the deep cut begins gushing blood, and after observing that he must have miscalculated if Ichigo is not in two pieces, Aizen leaves Ichigo to fall to his knees and slashes Renji through the left side of his upper torso, causing him to collapse in disbelief as well, before approaching Rukia and grabbing her by the collar around her neck as he tells her to get up.

Suddenly, Aizen notices Ichigo struggling to get up and expresses sympathy for him still being conscious. As a sweating Ichigo glares at him, Aizen notes that his will to live exceeds his skills and cautions Ichigo against pushing himself too hard because his spine is the only thing holding the two halves of him together.

After clarifying that it is structurally impossible for Ichigo to make it to his feet no matter how much willpower he has, Aizen instructs him to look on the bright side of him getting further than expected and tells Ichigo to rest for a while due to his part in all this being over.

Aizen reveals the existence of Hollowfication as the only way to surpass one's limits. Calling the Ryoka's arrival spectacular, Aizen details how his group outwitted and outfought even the captains, such that every Shinigami in the Seireitei was looking for them, and concludes that the excitement and engaging nature of it all meant even the murder of a captain received very little attention and made it easy for Aizen to carry out his plan.

A stunned Ichigo questions how he knew they would arrive in West Rukongai, and when Aizen asserts that it was obvious because that is Kisuke Urahara 's base of operations and the only place the Ryoka could enter using a Senkaimon created by Urahara, Ichigo expresses shock, leading Aizen to point out that this should not surprise him since he works for Urahara before reminding Ichigo that he came to rescue Rukia on Urahara's orders.

With Ichigo speechless at this, Aizen deduces that he does not know and decides to tell Ichigo now that it is all over as he approaches Ichigo with Rukia in tow.

Aizen details how Shinigami have four basic combat methods known as Zan ken so ki , each of which require a certain level of power, but attempting to master those methods will invariably result in one eventually hitting a wall determined by their potential, where improvement stops.

Asserting that all Shinigami have these limits, Aizen raises the question of the possibility of breaking through these limits and concludes that this can be done through Hollowfication. Aizen recounts how Kisuke Urahara worked outside of Soul Society 's scientific community to create a substance capable of artificially inducing Hollowfication instantaneously.

Despite this, Aizen admits none of them could truly be considered a new kind of being and others who delved into this field were hindered by ignorance and ethics, resulting in no one being successful until Urahara, who worked outside of Soul Society 's scientific community to create a substance that could remove the barriers between Shinigami and Hollows.

Informing Rukia that she was the hiding place which Urahara chose, Aizen explains that she had already gone missing in the Human World by the time he learned this secret, though he instinctively knew Urahara was behind it, and proceeds to detail how all Gigai are constructed of highly concentrated Reishi in order to compensate for the powers a Shinigami loses when in that form, which also allows all the actions of a Gigai to be tracked from Soul Society and making it inconceivable for one to go missing.

A furious Sajin Komamura confronts Aizen. However, Aizen reveals that Urahara created a Gigai that contained no Reishi, leading to his banishment from Soul Society, and clarifies that the other reason for his banishment was the consequence of a Shinigami inhabiting that Gigai : their spiritual powers would continue to diminish while they were within the Gigai to the point of no longer being recoverable, and communications with the Gigai gradually slow down, eventually leading to the Soul losing all of its spiritual powers and becoming a normal Human.

However, as Aizen begins recounting the actions he took after Rukia was discovered a few months later, Komamura lands behind him and furiously attacks Aizen with his Shikai, Tenken. Kurohitsugi after tricking and distracting him with Kanzen Saimin. Kurohitsugi , creating a large black box around Komamura that is pierced by several spears.

As he watches this, Ichigo wonders how two captains could be so far apart in power while a grievously wounded Komamura collapses.

Having been holding Rukia by the collar around her neck for the duration of this, Gin hands her back to Aizen, who resumes recounting his machinations by picking up with his elimination of the Central 46 after Rukia was discovered in the Human World.

Seeing Rukia's shock at this, Aizen pulls her along and theorizes that Isane told her he killed the Central 46 after faking his own death, only to clarify that he killed them shortly after she was discovered. After noting they only left the Central Underground Assembly Hall open for a few hours before and after the two captains' meetings, Aizen concludes that he faked his death and stayed inside after this while knowing that the Ryoka might come to save Rukia. When Aizen clicks a small capsule in his hand, six spear-like pillars rise out of the ground around him and Rukia while his right hand and arm are discolored and covered in lines, with his fingers becoming blade-like.

As Ichigo sees that the hole in Rukia's chest is shrinking, Aizen observes that the Soul itself remains undamaged by this process and praises the technology involved, only to conclude that Rukia is no longer needed and hold her aloft by her collar as he orders Gin to kill her. Hooleer and the Menos Grande arrive to rescue Aizen. The patch of ground Aizen is standing on begins rising into the air, to the astonishment of those watching, and as Iba prepares to attack him, Yamamoto stops him.

Meanwhile, Ukitake stands before Aizen and inquires why he allied himself with the Menos Grande. When Aizen asserts that he did so to seek greater heights, Ukitake questions if he has fallen, but Aizen counters this by claiming that no has ever stood atop the heavens before, not him, Ukitake, or the gods.

After slicking back his hair and removing his glasses, which he crushes, Aizen concludes that the unbearable vacancy of heaven's throne ends now because he will stand at the top from now on. Yasochika Iemura directs several relief squads to tend to the wounded Shinigami. As the sun begins to set, 4th Division 3rd Seat Yasochika Iemura directs his subordinates to tend to the wounded Shinigami present, with Byakuya being seen to by the second and third squads, Komamura being treated by the seventh, tenth, eleventh, and thirteenth squads, and Renji being prepared for transport by the eighth and ninth squads after receiving sixth-stage treatment.

While battling Gremmy, who heals himself, Kenpachi realizes the effects of The Visionary on a person will no longer work if Gremmy's attention is shifted away from that individual and has Yachiru leave the stage before continuing to attack Gremmy, who realizes he truly wishes to kill Kenpachi and begins fighting more seriously.

After nearly killing himself with The Visionary , Gremmy clones himself and summons a meteorite to obliterate Soul Society, prompting Kenpachi to release his real Shikai, Nozarashi , and destroy the meteorite with a single attack. Gremmy traps Kenpachi in a void of space, severely damaging his body, before having all of his clones self-destruct in a massive explosion, but qhen Kenpachi survives this assault as well, Gremmy attempts to become stronger than him, only to have his body be unable to handle this newfound power and tear itself apart.

Gremmy's body fades away as his real body, a brain in a tank, falls on the ground. Shortly afterward, Kenpachi realizes Yachiru is missing. As a beam of light pierces the sky, Yhwach reveals he intends to invade the Soul King Palace while the 72 barriers between it and Soul Society are still open from Ichigo crashing through them; when the Sternritter prevent Ichigo from leaving to stop Yhwach, Renji and several other Shinigami arrive to take them on in his stead.

Urahara prepares to send Ichigo, Orihime, and Sado to the Soul King Palace as Yoruichi arrives with several bottles containing the large amounts of energy gained from closing the rifts in the Human World. Ikkaku and Yumichika fight Bambietta's corpse, with Yumichika deducing the true nature of The Explode and helping Ikkaku attack her; however, Giselle has Bambietta incapacitate Ikkaku and Yumichika and prepares to turn them into zombies, but is interrupted by the arrival of Mayuri.

When Giselle has Bambietta begin attacking Mayuri, he reveals he has devised a way to nullify The Explode ; this prompts Giselle to summon several Shinigami zombies to fight him, but Mayuri summons four resurrected Arrancar to fight them in response. As the Arrancar begin slaughtering the Shinigami zombies, Giselle reattaches Bambietta's arm, only to be confronted by Charlotte, who claims Giselle resembles him before effortlessly defeating Bambietta; this prompts Giselle to bring out her trump card - a zombified Hitsugaya.

Hitsugaya quickly and grievously cuts down Ikkaku, Yumichika, and Charlotte as Mayuri deduces he was turned into a zombie before death, which prompts him to take on Hitsugaya himself in order to test out new drugs on him.

Hitsugaya seemingly kills Mayuri twice, but each time the latter comes back unscathed; it is eventually revealed that Charlotte's blood put a Postcognition Drug into Hitsugaya's system, rendering him unable to actually kill Mayuri and quickly rendering him immobile by putting strain on his hippocampus.

Eventually, Kensei and Rose collapse after being exposed to the Precognition Drug as well, and Mayuri takes control of them using a Blood Reorganization Drug , causing them to turn on Giselle and stab her through the heart. While swearing vengeance, PePe is confronted by Liltotto, who devours him as revenge for nearly killing her.

Kirinji finds himself unable to directly attack Yhwach, who is confronted by Senjumaru and her Divine Soldiers ; when they also prove unable to harm Yhwach, Nianzol Weizol reveals himself as the source of this phenomenon.

Before Ichigo, Orihime, Sado, and Yoruichi depart for the Soul King Palace, Ganju arrives with an aerial map that he claims is the only way they can reach the palace, and departs with them shortly afterward.

Learning of Nianzol's ability to deflect all attacks that he can see, Senjumaru distracts him with a surprise attack from several Divine Soldiers while she resews his outfit, which quickly impales him with dozens of spikes.

After Gerard Valkyrie overwhelms Senjumaru and Pernida Parnkgjas destroys a larger Divine Soldier , Lille Barro seemingly kills her and destroys the surrounding cities. Nimaiya makes short work of the Schutzstaffel with Sayafushi , a sword with immense cutting power, but is caught off-guard when Askin Nakk Le Vaar not only survives his assault, but begins to incapacitate him with The Deathdealing. Upon learning that Askin has made his own blood fatal to him, Nimaiya cuts his throat to let some of it out and then has Kirinji replace his blood with water from his Blood Pond Hell , allowing him to recover and defeat Askin.

While Nimaiya plans out his battle strategy, Yhwach's hands shine with a bright light that engulfs the Cage of Life. As Ichigo and his friends confront him, Yhwach reveals that they are too late to save the Soul King; Ichigo attempts to help the king, but Yhwach's Reiatsu triggers his Quincy blood and forces him to attack instead, mortally wounding the Soul King. Ichigo attacks Yhwach, who claims there is no reason to fight him anymore because Soul Society is going to be obliterated.

June 18th All Three Realms [66]. With the Soul King no longer present to maintain the cycle of souls, the realms begin crumbling. Ukitake reveals that he will replace the Soul King by sacrificing his life to Mimihagi , the right hand of the Soul King that dwells within his body. The Shinigami fail to stabilize a doorway to the palace due to Ukitake's vast Reiatsu being absent, however, the Visored reappear as Mayuri arrives and reveals a Reiatsu Amplifier, allowing the Shinigami to stabilize the doorway.

Aizen manages to remove the other seals on his body and confronts Shunsui, who reveals that he has come to take Aizen to the surface because they are in the same predicament. Yhwach blasts Ichigo away before moving to the Soul King and Mimihagi, while Pernida prevents Yoruichi from interfering, Yhwach begins ripping Mimihagi off of the Soul King, causing the palace to split in two.

Orihime manages to catch her friends with Santen Kesshun , and Yoruichi prepares to pull them up to one of the cities; however, Kon bursts out of Ichigo's pocket in his muscular body, causing Ichigo to be knocked out when he hits his head against Orihime's.

After absorbing Mimihagi and its power, Yhwach decides to take everything that belongs to the Soul King before firing a beam of darkness at the Seireitei. The beam of darkness hits the Shakonmaku , causing the Seireitei to be cloaked in darkness. Yhwach dissolves into a multitude of small black creatures, which Haschwalth states are the manifestation of the Soul King's unrestricted power, that begin pouring out of the palace and heading toward the Seireitei as Haschwalth notes their enemy is now the Shinigami.

Aizen arrives and instructs the other Shinigami to crush the creatures with their Reiatsu instead of using their swords. Kurohitsugi and severely cracking the veil of darkness, Aizen prepares to create a pathway to the palace for the Shinigami. Aizen's Reiatsu destroys the remainder of the veil of darkness before suddenly dissipating, prompting Mayuri to explain how Aizen's restraints can only restrain his Reiatsu to his body before mocking Aizen for thinking he could overcome Mayuri's technological prowess with his power.

Yoruichi wakes up an unconscious Ichigo and declares it is time for them to take revenge before having Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez come to the palace via Garganta. Grimmjow confronts Ichigo and prepares to battle him once more; however, they are interrupted by Nelliel, who has had a device created for her by Urahara that allows her to return to her adult form at any time. A large box containing a modified Valley of Screams appears in the Garganta , and Riruka and Yukio appear inside of it; inside, Yoruichi explains to Ichigo how they are going to use this transport to sneak inside the palace.

The Wandenreich city is torn apart and lifted upward; Urahara completes the doorway to the Royal Realm as the Shinigami forces prepare to enter. Ichigo and his friends arrive at the palace, only to find Yhwach has placed the Wandenreich city there.

The Gotei 13 forces arrive in the Royal Realm and are shocked by its new appearance, only to realize Yhwach has restructured the palace and surrounding cities to his liking. As the Shinigami learn that they cannot use Shunpo because Yhwach has increased the Reishi concentration in the air, Yhwach creates a towering new palace in the center of the Royal Realm that he labels Wahrwelt. Haschwalth reports the presence of the intruders to Yhwach, who decides to call his new stronghold Wahrwelt.

Mayuri, Kenpachi, and their primary subordinates arrive separately from the main group of Shinigami, having entered the doorway later.

Ichigo's group moves toward the palace as Yoruichi and Sado discuss what their new strategy should be after losing the element of surprise; suddenly, Grimmjow decides to rush ahead and encounters Askin, whom he attacks.

Haschwalth quickly proves he is far superior to Bazz-B in combat and effortlessly overwhelms him; despite this, Bazz-B continues to fight with grievous injuries.

Haschwalth cuts Bazz-B's arm off, leading the latter to use Burning Full Fingers with his remaining hand; however, Haschwalth avoids Bazz-B's final attack and defeats him. Mayuri and Kenpachi are confronted by Pernida, and Kenpachi is forced to rip his arm off after Pernida gains control of it; despite Mayuri's warning to be cautious, Kenpachi attacks Pernida and is further injured by The Compulsory , forcing Mayuri to step in and incapacitate him.

Mayuri deduces the true nature of The Compulsory before exposing Pernida's nerves, causing Pernida to scream in pain as its cloak shreds to reveal it is the left hand of the Soul King; Pernida attacks Mayuri, who is overjoyed at having a completely new research subject.

Mayuri and Pernida begin to combat each other in earnest, with Pernida displaying the ability to control inorganic matter and use The Compulsory from its severed body parts while Mayuri reveals he has developed Hirenkyaku Shoes and is forced to restructure his arm when Pernida tries to take control of it.

When Pernida's clone survives the attack and tears Nemu to shreds, a distraught Mayuri is confronted by a hallucination of Szayelaporro Granz that points out his mistakes, prompting Mayuri to recover and trick Pernida's clones into devouring Nemu's remains, causing them to ingest an organ that uncontrollably multiples cells and self-destruct from over-regeneration.

After having his legs injured by Pernida's final attack, Mayuri is found and aided by Ikkaku and Yumichika, whom he instructs to free the de-zombified Hitsugaya and Rangiku; with himself and Kenpachi placed in the healing containers, Mayuri revels in having finally surpassed Urahara before falling unconscious while dreaming of Nemu.

As Lille continues picking off Shinigami from afar, Shunsui decides that they need someone to put themselves in danger in order to find Lille and moves ahead of the group before seemingly being shot; however, he suddenly appears unharmed behind Lille and cuts through his rifle before promising to take his life. After explaining how he reached Lille and faked being shot, Shunsui begins fighting Lille in earnest, with the latter realizing how powerful and dangerous his opponent is.

Shunsui appears before Lille and proceeds through the first, second, and third "acts" of his Bankai, all of which successfully harm Lille. Shunsui seemingly defeats Lille with the final act of his Bankai, Shime no Dan: Itokiribasami Chizome no Nodobue , but Lille survives and blasts Shunsui through the gut. Lille attacks Shunsui and Nanao with Trompete , but Nanao reflects the power of Trompete back at Lille, who has part of his body erased and disintegrates into shards of light.

June 18th Seireitei, Soul Society [66]. Lille's shards land in the Seireitei, where he reforms in a new body and creates clones of himself while deciding to destroy the Seireitei; however, a revived Izuru arrives and confronts him. Gerard is overpowered and wounded by Renji and Byakuya, but merely states that defeating them will be a miracle. Upon hearing Gerard promising to show them a miracle, Byakuya quickly decimates him with Senbonzakura , but Gerard recovers by converting the damage he has taken into physical growth with The Miracle and quickly overwhelms the Shinigami with his newfound power.

As Gerard searches for survivors, Hiyori, Hachigen, Love, and Lisa attack him in tandem, but Gerard withstands their attacks and repels them with a single blow before deciding to obliterate the surrounding area; however, Hitsugaya arrives and freezes his arm in place, stopping him. While running to Yhwach's location, Ichigo and his friends are attacked by giant statues; Sado destroys part of the passage and has Ichigo and Orihime continue without him while he holds off the statues alongside Ganju.

Askin surrounds his Gift Ball Deluxe in a Gift Bereich so Urahara cannot escape and, after hearing Urahara's explanation on what it means to be a scientist, destroys Urahara's eyes with a Gift Ring , prompting Urahara to comment that Askin is earnestly trying to kill him and activate his Bankai, Kannonbiraki Benihime Aratame. Urahara reveals that his Bankai has the ability to restructure physical objects and restructures his eyes, healing his blindness.

He overwhelms Askin, who increases the power of his Gift Ball Deluxe , only to have his heart ripped out and crushed by Grimmjow. As he dies, Askin reveals that the Gift Ball Deluxe will magnify in power upon his death; watching from afar, Nelliel notes that Urahara foresaw this possibility, and prepares to enter it to rescue Urahara and his allies.

Meanwhile, as Byakuya rejoins the battle against Gerard, Kenpachi appears and cuts off Gerard's forearm. After Gerard regenerates his arm, Kenpachi learns how The Miracle works and is stopped by Hitsugaya from slicing up Gerard in order to see what happens; after intercepting Gerard's next attack and throwing him back, Kenpachi crosses blades with him, but suffers a deep cut across the chest as Gerard reveals that this is what happens to those who nick the blade of Hoffnung.

Kenpachi and Gerard continue their battle, but Kenpachi's rapidly accumulating injuries prove too much for him to bear; after a surprise attack from Hitsugaya and Byakuya is foiled by Gerard, Yachiru appears before Kenpachi and tells him that he could defeat anyone if he used her full power - Bankai.

Hitsugaya demonstrates his new ability to flash-freeze objects, thus disabling their abilities, and Kenpachi topples Gerard as Byakuya shatters him with Ikka Senjinka. June 19th Soul King Palace [66]. Ichigo begins to battle Yhwach, who demonstrates the ability to use his sheer Reiatsu for offense and defense before deciding to use his full power against Ichigo.

Yhwach pushes back Ichigo with his Reiatsu while demanding that he expend all of his power before dying. When the tip of his sword begins to turn white, Ichigo has Orihime block Yhwach's next attack and explains how he had to forcibly wake up his inner Hollow by letting Yhwach attack him before entering a merged Hollow form. Treating this as proof that he needs to take Ichigo seriously, Yhwach reactivates The Almighty and mercilessly overwhelms Ichigo before explaining that he can see all possible futures.

Undeterred, Ichigo activates his Bankai, Tensa Zangetsu , only for Yhwach to suddenly break it and bypass the protection of Orihime's Santen Kesshun with an attack before Yhwach revealing that the true power of The Almighty is to transform the future.

Explaining how his absence is the real reason behind Ichigo's past victories, Yhwach tells him he can begin despairing now as Ichigo loses his composure. Back at the top of the palace, Yhwach completely breaks Ichigo's spirit and prepares to take his power.

As Rukia and Renji reach the top of the palace, Yhwach departs through a portal while promising to kill everyone who follows him in their happiest moments. June 19th Seireitei, Soul Society [66]. After arriving in the Seireitei below, Yhwach destroys the chair restraining Aizen, to the latter's delight.

Aizen disguises himself as Ichigo and Renji seemingly attacking Yhwach, who repels them before attempting to destroy Tensa Zangetsu altogether, only for it to crack instead. As he dies, Yhwach reveals his goal of combining life and death so people could live without fear. Ran'Tao begins experiments that ended with the accidental creation of the Bount.

Ran'Tao is exiled from Soul Society due to aiding the Bount. The Bount attempt an invasion of Soul Society with aid from the Quincy , but are killed trying to do so. Maki Ichinose leaves the Eleventh Division and joins the Bount. The second school semester begins. Orihime Inoue is kidnapped by three mysterious assailants. Ichigo and his friends discover Orihime's disappearance and play along with her captors to free her.

Two of the assailants, Kurodo and Noba reveal themselves and kidnap Chad. The female assailant, Ririn , asks them to meet her at the school yard the next day. Ririn and her cohorts are revealed to be Mod-Souls. After getting to the schoolyard, Ririn reveals that one of the people in Ichigo's group is actually an imposter, and that they need to guess who's the fake before noon, which is when Ririn "eliminates" the rest of the school populace.

Ukitake closes the Senkaimon for the duration of the investigation. As Ichigo's group tries to figuire out who's the imposter, Ririn begins to kidnap the rest of the school. Kurodo reveals to them that they were correct. Ririn challenges them to one final test. Ichigo and his friends are sucked up into a mysterious gate and now have to fight the Mod-Souls to save Chad. Ichigo discovers he cannot use Bankai, but does realize Kisuke Urahara was the one behind the Mod-Soul attacks.

Yoruichi informs Urahara, the Mod Souls, and Ichigo's group about the existence of the Bount , and they discuss how to deal with them. Sui Feng reports back to Soul Society. Ichigo encounters his first Bount and fights it, but struggles until Rukia Kuchiki arives to help.

After escaping the hospital, Ichigo and Renji splits from the group to fight the Bount, which is destroyed by Ganju Shiba when he arrives. Rukia gets possessed, but Shuhei Hisagi helps fend off the Bount and save Rukia. Renji tries to defend Keigo Asano from the Bitto, but is injured as a result.

The Shinigami meet up in a cave and begin exploring it, eventually encountering Ugaki and his doll, which they eventually slay. After going through the Senkaimon, Ichigo and friends prepare to do battle. Kariya recruits thugs to help him breach the Sereitei. Zaraki Kenpachi confronts and defeats Maki Ichinose. Mayuri Kurotsuchi confronts and kills Sawatari. Ran'Tao comes to his aid. Uryu and Ran'Tao try to fight Jin Kariya, but both eventually are wounded or left powerless. Jin retreats to Sokyoku hill.

Time of Day. Ichigo Kurosaki notices Zangetsu can hear something he cannot. Renji Abarai and Byakuya Kuchiki spar with each other. Senbonzakura Kageyoshi harms Byakuya, to his surprise. Rangiku Matsumoto reveals Haineko is not responding to her, which Isane Kotetsu reveals is happening with Itegumo as well. However, their relationship was much more complicated than that. During the final arc, it's revealed that Nemu was part of an experiment performed by Mayuri to see if he can create an artificial being, which means that Nemu is technically his daughter.

Getting the opportunity to watch Nemu grow up day after day was like a dream for Mayuri, which is a sentiment shared by every loving parent. In the final two chapters, a new Nemu is shown. She was created after the previous model sacrificed herself to save his life, and she may very well be the same Nemu because he rescued her brain before it was destroyed.

Yachiru was more than just Squad 11's lieutenant, as the argument can be made that Kenpachi viewed her as a daughter.

But when the series ended, she was nowhere to be found. Something similar happened with Stark, the first Espada and Lilynette, so it's not beyond the realm of possibility. For those who say Kenpachi's sword isn't called Yachiru, it's a non factor because he is the one who named her when they met. Whenever a Shounen anime ends, it usually offers its fans some form of fanservice, and that usually means that certain characters are going to be married.

With Bleach, Ichigo and Orihime got married, and although many fans wanted to see him end up with Rukia, the marriage we did get makes a lot more sense. Rukia on the other hand, married Renji, which feels somewhat odd because they always seemed to have a sibling relationship.
